What’s the ideal ratio of product managers to customer base?
Let’s consider these three ratios:
A – 1:50
B – 1:250
C – 1:2500
Your product managers are the customer ambassadors on your team
Which means that they need to capture customer feedback, analyze it to inform the product roadmap
Your goal, as a business, is to have a:
A customer centric team
A data driven product roadmap
A product that customers love
But, if your customer base is in the thousands, or even hundreds, but you only have one or two product managers…
…It’s highly likely that your priorities don’t fully represent your customer base
Why?
Because one product manager can only cover so much ground
And you want to make sure that your product manager has a strong understanding of the customer segment that they are building solutions for
So what do you think is the ideal ratio of product manager to customer base for your business and industry?
A, B, or C? Or other?
