I am an experienced product design and development specialist and the founder of Innov8POD, with over 14 years working experience in Africa, North America and South East Asia, working both in the insurance sector and the public university domain.
I thrive in high complexity projects that span country, regional and global scope. My goal is to support clients from strategy to execution of new product concepts, with the ultimate goal of providing customer-centric and humanized solutions.
My vision is to sufficiently disrupt the way products are currently designed by highlighting the critical role of the human impact.
Alida’s Story
I immigrated to the US from Rwanda in 2007 to pursue my higher education career and worked for a Fortune 100 company in the Greater Boston Area. My introduction to Corporate America accelerated my roadmap for success where I adapted new ways of doing things and learned the importance of creating systems to facilitate doing work very efficiently. I also noticed that the way products were built was mainly driven by profit margins and gaining a competitive market share while the customer needs came last and the human impact was not even a consideration. I continued to challenge the status quo while also looking for ways to shift the mindset on humanized product design.
In 2018, I relocated to South East Asia and my mission continued. My US experience empowered me to harness on my authentic identity, find my niche, evolve my aspirations and scale to new heights. I founded Innov8POD, with the goal of humanizing product design to ensure that the products and services offered in the market, agnostic of industry, feel and look like what the customer needs, but most importantly that these products and services have a long lasting positive impact to the individual, community, society and the world.
Early Life
I was born in Moscow, Russia. My Rwandan parents were academic enthusiasts and were fortunate enough to pursue their higher education abroad. This enabled me to have global and multi-cultural exposure from an early age.
All of this came to a halt when in 1994, my family and I experienced the traumatic events of the Rwandan genocide and our lives were forever changed. We became refugees and fled to Kenya where I spent my teenage years and started a new life. Throughout this ordeal, I still had a desire to pursue my dreams and I was able to overcome the adversity and challenges along the way to attain my goals.
Above having a can-do mindset, I developed tools that I leverage all the time to take risks both in life and professionally. I am very comfortable with stepping outside my comfort zone to find my magic and this has allowed me to move and live on four continents and build the wealth of knowledge that I am excited to share with you.
The combination of my experiences and the perspectives that I offer have put me on the path I am on today: an entrepreneur, focused on using what I have learned to create value for myself and others. I am able to unleash my dimensions of differences to teach people how to get unstuck and achieve their aspirations.
